Bloomberg to Provide Subscribers with Markit's PMI Indicators

[By NBC-1TV H. J Yook]Bloomberg announced today that it has entered into a distribution agreement to integrate Markit’s Purchasing Managers’ Index™ (PMI™) data into the Bloomberg Professional service. Markit’s PMI surveys are leading indicators of business and economic conditions and influence a wide range of global markets. Conducted in more than 30 nations, these surveys are viewed as the most timely and internationally comparable economic datasets.

Through this agreement, Bloomberg will provide its 319,000 subscribers with real-time access to Markit‘s headline PMI data, along with three years of headline PMI historical data. Customers who subscribe to Markit’s full underlying PMI dataset also will have immediate access through Bloomberg to the complete historical time series as well as sub-indexes for variables such as new orders, employment, inventories and input/output prices, and Markit’s recently launched Sector PMI survey data.

“Markit‘s PMI surveys are among the most-watched economic releases in the world and we are excited to offer all of our clients real-time access to the headline PMI figures,” said Jean-Paul Zammitt, head of sales and product for the Bloomberg Professional service. “This agreement also provides our common customers with deep integration of Markit’s complete PMI dataset and history into Bloomberg's powerful platform for economic and market analytics.”
