[By NBC-1TV H. J Yook]GM Korea Company announced today that it sold 58,899 vehicles in April, including 10,260 vehicles in the domestic market and 48,639 complete vehicles in export markets.
GM Korea’s sales in Korea were down 21.8 percent from 13,113 units sold in the same month last year due in large part to the economic downturn and overall drop in vehicle demand in the domestic market.
Exports of complete vehicles in April were up slightly to 48,639 units from 48,619 units exported in the same month last year. GM Korea also exported 97,544 complete knockdown (CKD) kits of parts and components to be assembled into vehicles.
GM Korea expects sales to rebound in May thanks to the positive consumer response to its Chevrolet lineup, including the recently launched 2014 G2 Cruze and Aveo, Malibu, Trax, Captiva and Orlando, as well as the Alpheon. Several of these models feature GM’s new second-generation six-speed transmission.
