J Yook]“Seoul International Aerospace & Defense Exhibition 2013 (Seoul ADEX 2013)”, which will shed light on the present and the future of the world’s most advanced Aircraft and Defense industry technology, will be held for 6 days in KINTEX (Exhibition Center 2) with Opening Ceremony in October 29th until November 3rd.

In the Opening Ceremony, Government and Military Officials of Prime Minister Jung Hong-Won, Minister of Defense Kim Kwan-jin, and Chief of Staffs of Army, Navy, and Air Force will be participating.

This year’s「Seoul International Aerospace and Defense Exhibition」marks 9th year since its first exhibition held in 1996 with the title of ‘Seoul Air Show’. Since the exhibition in 2009, Seoul ADEX is truly the largest scaled Aerospace and Defense Industry Exhibition in Asia-Pacific Area under the unified operation with ‘Defense Asia’.

This year’s exhibition will provide a great opportunity to observe cutting edge aerospace and defense industry technology, as most advanced ground and aerospace weapon system, space rocket and satellite will be displayed. Participation scale is expected to be the largest as 361 companies from 28 countries will take part.

During Business Day period which will be held for 4 days after the opening ceremony in October 29th (Tuesday) until November 1st (Friday), attendance of 68 Military VIP officials including Defense Ministers from 45 countries, Chief of Staffs, and Minister of Defense Acquisition as well as CEOs of related industries are expected.

Therefore, active military diplomacy regarding mutual matter of interest between participating nations is expected to be developed and improvement of status of state as well as practical B2G and B2B business are expected to take place.

In addition, introduction of excellent quality domestic equipments of FA-50, Surion, Tilt-rotor unmanned aerial vehicle, K-2 MBT, K-9 self-propelled howitzer, K-10 ammunition resupply vehicle, K-21 Infantry Fighting Vehicle and a new tactical vehicle will be introduced through the exhibition which is expected to create an opportunity for international export marketing.
Also, fierce competition to win the contract between target companies can be observed cutting edge fighter jet such as F-35, Eurofighter, and F-15SE manufacturing companies which drew the national interest of citizens as the target aircraft for third FX program will participate in the exhibition.

The current situation of South Korea’s aerospace science technology can be examined as well.

To catch up with increased national interest for space due to the recent successful launch of Naro, Korea Aerospace Research Institute will showcase precision model of Naro with scale of 5:1 to display developed aerospace science technology of Republic of Korea.

Above this, various international conferences to view the flow of technology of world’s aerospace and defense industry will be hosted.

Related to the development of aerospace and weapon system, ‘International aerospace symposium’, ‘International defense academic conference’, and ‘International aerospace technology symposium’ will be held. Especially related to realization of creative economy through the conflation of IT and Software, ‘Air Force Information Technology International Seminar’, ‘Civil military technical cooperation policy forum’, and ‘International unmanned system seminar’ which will allow assessment of ‘Potential for creation of new growth power’, which is the combination of aerospace, defense, and IT technologies.

During 2 days of Public Day period from November 2nd to 3rd, flight simulation contest hosted by Korean Air and Republic of Korea Air Force, demonstration of Army Band/Honor Guard, demonstration of Martial Arts by Korean Special Warfare Command, and Army Performance of Songs of Independence will be held in Outdoor Theater and 1F Square of Exhibition Center 2 as an attraction to visitors.

This exhibition is the pan-governmental event with the Prime Minister as Honorary Chairman and Minister of Defense, Minister of Trade, Industry, and Energy, and Minister of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport as Honorary Vice Chairman. To induce national interest to the exhibition, ‘Republic of Korea Air Force Cheongju International Airport Air Show with citizens’ was held from October 25th to 27th.

The Air Show held in Cheongju International Airport successfully drew the national interest as more than 150,000 visitors from all over the country including Chungcheongbuk-do have attended the event.
